My Dad always told me we had a castle in Scotland

by Lee Avery
(Port Orchard, Washington State)

My Dad's mother maiden name is McEwan.

Her name was Lana McEwan, and she passed away 2004 in Medford, Oregon.

Her mother had the same name, Lana... (maiden name Titus). She was married to William Atherton McEwan...

Who's dad was William, born in Perthshire...

Who's dad was also William, born 1779...

Who's dad was John born 1757 in Offram and...

HIS father was another William born 1731.

I had been researching family history on Ancestry.com. I was able to trace the name back to 1731 in Offram, Wester Inshaven, Little Dunkeld, Perthshire, Scotland.

I loved reading your experiences discovering the site of the castle.

And the McEwan family is such a small part of all the small parts that make up me, so I hadn't done much more in my research, but I love that there is someone who is perhaps related to me, even in a very distant way.

Thanks for all your work, I appreciate finding out that there is in fact a castle, even if there is only rocks now!!
Best Regards!!

Travel is fun in the Northern summer... but don't neglect the Southern Hemisphere at this time of year.
Yes, it's winter in South Africa, but that's their dry season. It's a good time to travel there.
