Lucy McEwen -- Finding Myself

by Lucy McEwen

I always knew my name was important, in some little way, but never found answers... until a few years ago when I put McEwen in a search on the web.

I found plenty of exciting pieces of history about my ancestors.

I was rather impressed to discover how large the clan was, and what we once belonged to. And finding evidence of expansion to lands such as America and Australia.

I couldn't help but be shocked to find one piece of writing... speaking of a drunken bet that wagered the McEwen's land which resulted in the loss of the land and small castle they had owned. Shortly after, it was said that a neighboring clan gave refuge to many of the McEwens, only to slaughter them in premeditated plan of mass murder, beginning with a feast and lots of whiskey.

I've still not any proof that the story is true, but knowing that so many McEwen families are still strong and forever growing.... that makes me proud to be a McEwen.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
