When you visit this web site, we hope you find browsing and reading it both a learning experience and a pleasure.... whether you're planning to travel or you're an armchair traveler.

We ONLY write about places we've been to and things we've done.... There is none of that "buy a travel article for your website" thing here. (Although, as you will read elsewhere, I did WRITE about our experiences for that kind of an enterprise for about a year.)

We want to provide a place for travelers to read about travel with "no strings attached". We don't want sponsors that we "must" promote, though if we have had a good experience with a hotel or a tour company, we feel comfortable telling you about that.

We may eventually bundle some of our tips into an e-book, but really, it's all free for you to find on our website. We even provide a way for you to do a Google search of our pages! Let's be honest, though, we do want to make money from the site to help keep us traveling... so... now to those pesky disclosures and disclaimers... let us explain how this happens.

• Ads - You will see ads on many pages, either in boxes on the page or as double underlines in our content. For most of these ads, we are paid a small fee when a reader chooses to visit an advertiser.
        We cannot choose which ads these companies show on our website. They are supposed to be relevant to the content of that page, but sometimes, we wonder, as you must, what those "spiders" are thinking!
        We really do appreciate your patience with these ads... and most especially your patronage of our site in spite of them! Thank you.

• Travel Advice - We are not travel agents, but we have traveled A LOT. We try to give you the best advice we can according to our experiences.
  • Itineraries, when we include them, are itineraries we have used on our trips.
  • Advice is as current as we can make it.... on the day we write it!!
  • We try to keep up with all the changes in the world, but we cannot be responsible if things are different when you are traveling.
    

Our philosophy, and what we advocate, is to stay on top of the news and go with the flow... that's what travelers do. You need to think for yourself... and be responsible for yourself. No one else can do it.

• Medical Advice - We are not licensed medical practitioners. Although we give tips and explanations about Pepto-Bismol and malaria pills and travel vaccinations, nothing on this site should be construed as medical advice.

  We cannot give medical advice in response to private e-mails. We always say you should consult with a travel medicine doctor or your own physician if you want advice on vaccinations or medications for travel.

• Endorsements - We post those ads, and we use their services, but that does not mean that we "endorse" them. We have tried to choose them carefully, but we want to stay independent. We will tell you if we've had a good experience, then you must choose for yourself.
