Sarah McEwan, Lochgilphead, Loch Fyne, Argyllshire
by Ian Munro
(Rankin's Springs, NSW.Australia.)
My great grandmother was Sarah McEwan and she was born at Lochgilphead on Loch Fyne,
Scotland. Lochgilphead is across the Loch from Otter Ferry.
She married John Munro, my great grandfather. We was from Castleton on Loch Fyne.
They emigrated to Australia in 1878 on board the Álice Platt'.
Both John and Sarah spoke Gaelic.
They settled at Bundalong in Victoria, Australia.Hi Ian,
I think I'm a long time in getting this information up on our site for you. I have no good excuse. I thought I might try to organize the two McEwan pages into just "stories about the clan",
and just "finding other clan members"...
But I'm finding that may prove harder to do than I thought! Anyway, at least I found your submission.
With that little bit of explanation, I am moving this to the "Find Other McEwens" page. Each little bit of information adds to the story and just might help others connect with the clan. Thanks (belatedly) for your submission.
Since our trip to Loch Fyne, Otter Ferry, and the Castle McEwan at Kilfinan, we can picture the area that your great grandmother war born.
